Worst Monday in Years

--- A hint of how yesterday felt.

Yesterday was quite possibly the worst Monday I've had in years. First, I'm a girl... so my emotions and such were a "bit" high strung in the first place. I found out that a bunch of the financial aid stuff for the upcoming semester was messed up (because the school was, shall we say, less than helpful).

I filled out the FAFSA in my married name, making sure the school records showed my married name as well. That was last week. Then as I tried to fix the problem yesterday, one thing led to another and I got the run-around of a lifetime. I changed my name on my social security so that it matched for FAFSA, because that's what I was told to do. Then as I talked to the government people in charge of FAFSA, she said I shouldn't have done that and that I shouldn't have filled anything out in my married name. Tell me how that makes sense and why NO ONE at the school bothered to tell me that when I made the trip there to fill it out to avoid such problems anyway!

At this point, I'm crying in frustration and have no idea what to do because I'm now being told that it will be a minimum of 6 weeks just to process my name change and get records straight... that puts my money on hold for school. The school doesn't wait, and the 17 cents in my account just won't cover student teaching. Go figure.

Mind you, this is only maybe lunch-time and all of this mess has already taken place. So I call the school. I can't get my advisor to answer. I can't get anyone in the financial aid office to answer. What a help. Now, I was totally ticked off and anybody that looked at me wrong was going to be missing limbs. It's a good thing yesterday was slow at work and no customer pissed me off too.

FINALLY, after hours of trying, financial aid answered. After several more transfers, I think I talked to the right lady who, for once, knew what was going on and helped me. As far as I know, for now, things are on the right track. Though I still have no idea when or how much I'll get for grants and loans. Oh, and the website says the deadline is June 30th. It didn't bother to say that's the deadline for LAST YEAR'S finacial aid. Again, less than helpful... and more than stressful.

After work was the gym... always a thrilling time. I made the mistake of checking the scale. Oops. Bad move. But hey, my day couldn't have been worse, right? Wrong. The numbers made me upset and I ran until I about fell over. All this stress and lack of water through the day= the worst migraine I've had in awhile. Bring on the sleep! Or in my case... the lack of it. I didn't even fall asleep to AdvilPM until WAY too late and could do nothing but lay in bed in pain, topping my Monday off the only way it could have rightfully ended.

Photography Fun

Sunday we went on a bit of a photo-outing. Here are a few of the shots I managed to get. This is all just around the falls in IF. Enjoy! :)

The Naked Mole Rat

Meet the naked mole rat.... Also known as my dog, Max! He got groomed finally. Because of the matted hair and stuff from being a stray, he had to be shaved all the way down. Now he's naked with a beard and mustache. It cracks me up!

The sad part of the story: He has one nail that's so ingrown that they wouldn't clip it for fear of it being infected and not stop bleeding. So he needs to go to the vet.... MONEY! Ah! Also, he's got a tooth that I didn't notice because it's in the back that is so gross that it probably needs to be pulled out and not just cleaned. :( Sad and expensive for both! He's not complaining about the tooth, so I'm going to hope he's ok until I can afford to fix it. The nail however, is going to need fixing soon, it's hurting him bad. Poor guy. Hopefully early next week he can get fixed (after the next paycheck). Anyway, he's cleaned and shaved and almost happy. Hopefully we'll get him all the way fixed up in a week or so.

And then...

This picture here, is Max spazzing out. For some reason, he loves to roll around and push his face across the carpet. They checked for ear problems and said that's not it, so I guess my dog is just goofy...which fits us perfectly. :)

Meet Max!

This is Max! I've been wanting a dog since... well, since I left home really, but campus apartments won't allow them. So now that I'm married and living in a real apartment, I wanted a dog! This wasn't terribly easy though. Geoff didn't really want a dog...he wants fish. Fish are great and all, but I can't pet or snuggle with a fish very well. So I spent a little time looking around and found Max listed on Petfinder.com in the Idaho Falls Animal Control Center. He was a stray and no one claimed him so he was up for adoption. There was a name on the list already, so I had to (im)patiently wait until 12:30 this afternoon to know if I could have a chance. Luckily, I did. Geoff got me at lunch, we met Max, went to lunch to wait for any allergic reaction, and in that time, I got Geoff to say, "Ok we can get him. But he's your dog." :D Done and Done. We went back and picked him up and he spent the rest of the work day with me until we could walk home and get settled.
He's a Lhasa Apso dominantly, but I think he's got something else too. He's 3, quiet, small, and pretty obedient. He was the only dog there not barking... sold me! So, 30 dollars later (including his lovely raibies shot) I have a dog! Next week, I'll get him all groomed up an pretty, but for now, here he is! :)
